If listening to live music on the beach in the warm sun amongst the palm trees and thousands of other live music fans through the day into the sunset and late night is your ideal vacation, then Hangout Music Festival is an experience you cannot miss!
This year May 17th, 18th & 19th, 2013 Hangout Music Festival will put on its 4th annual music festival on the white sand beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama. There is no other festival like Hangout Music Festival: the Gulf Shores are crystal blue, the music at the festival is diverse and the festival management brings exciting, creative surprises to all the festival patrons! Last years festival in 2012 was a lot of fun- the festival had a daily crowd of 35,000 and featured a lineup including Jack White, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band, The String Cheese Incident and The Flaming Lips! Each band put on a unique and awesome performance. The Red Hot Chili Peppers crowd rocked the world out, Dave Mathews and String Cheese moved the crowd and the Flaming Lips wowed the crowd with stage effects like giant beach balls filled with confetti and cash and huge disco balls on the stage! Last year we also saw Skrillex as the crowd went absolutely wild filling the stage area as far as the beach went and fans even got on the festival rides to see Skrillex above the crowd. Speaking of which we are looking forward to see what sort of fun activities will be at the festival. Last year we enjoyed a larger than life water slide and a swing ride.
This years festival line up includes Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Stevie Wonder, Kings of Leon, Trey Anastasio Band, The Shins, Bassnectar, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Black Crowes, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Slightly Stoopid, The Roots, Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Imagine Dragons, Big Gigantic, Gov’t Mule, Moe., Galactic, Toots and the Maytals and a whole lot more acts! So all you live music fans enjoy your raging because there will be music on the beach all weekend long! If you plan to get there early, check out the Kick off Party on Thursday night featuring Umphrey’s McGee, Benny Benassi, Lotus and more! Can’t wait to hear those guitars, bass and drums booming over the sand!
The atmosphere of Hangout is beach relaxed and fun. The festival has ADA access. Hangout also invites kids and families. Last year the kid’s area had a special performance by Dave Mathews and others! Children aged 10 and under are admitted free into the festival grounds if accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. Hangout is located on the beach and surrounding area that is normal open to public beach goers. The Hangout restaurant– where the festival gets its name– is at the center of the festival and will be open all weekend long. There will be plenty of other food and drink vendors, too. Last year there was the amazing Sky Bar located in front of the water line, selling great drinks and offering a raised bar with view of the entire shoreline. There were also be craft vendors, product vendors and lots more to enjoy during your stay. This year’s festival is teaming up with big brand names like Chevy, Event Operations Group, Camelbak, Coca-Cola, Bud Light, Spectrum Resorts, Kaiser Realty, Meyer Vacation Rentals and more to provide more fun for the party!
This years Hangout will have a public art contest of sand sculptures over the size of 5 feet. While the deadline to enter the contest is already past, this will be an amazing opportunity to see cool sand sculptures and the creative process for this artistic medium! Hangout Music Festival is working on its commitment to helping festival-goers cover their carbon foot print and respect the local environment– and we love that! To help out Hangout will provide recycling and trash throughout the festival grounds. The beach environment is a delicate eco-system and the home to many other living things beside humans. Even sea creatures can be affected by trash left at the beach so Hangout will make sure festival-goers do their part to respect the beautiful Gulf Shores area. To get more involved attendees can volunteer for Clean Vibes, which offers a free ticket in exchange for a certain amount of assigned time cleaning up festival grounds. There are other volunteer possibilities to help the festival run including Work Exchange Team (WET) that offers a free ticket in exchange for a certain number of hours donated to various positions in the festival. As Hangout Music Festival says, “Just remember: every person’s efforts make a difference!”
